Red Osier Dogwood
Description
Native to the local area, Red Osier Dogwood is a versatile, fast growing shrub known for its brilliant red stems that provide striking winter interest. It features creamy white flower clusters in late spring, followed by white or bluish berries in late summer. The foliage turns vibrant burgundy or crimson red in the fall. This multi stemmed, suckering shrub is highly valued for erosion control on slopes and banks due to its extensive, soil stabilizing root system. Plant in full sun for the most vibrant winter stem colour, however, it will tolerate part shade.
