McIntosh Apple
Description
The McIntosh Apple is a classic, cold hardy variety discovered in Ontario, Canada, in 1811, known for producing iconic crisp, red and green, sweet-tart apples suitable for fresh eating, baking, and cider. This variety blooms with white, fragrant flowers from early to mid May, typically lasting about a week. The apples feature a distinct sweet-tart and spicy flavour with crisp, white flesh that is aromatic and juicy. Usually harvested early to mid fall, the apples can be stored in cold storage where they can last anywhere from 5–8 months. Requires another compatable apple or crabapple tree variety nearby to produce fruit. For highest yield and best bloom, plant in full sun.
