Description
The Sargentii Crabapple is a dense, dwarf tree known for its horizontal, spreading habit and profuse spring blossoms. Fragrant, white flowers emerge from pale pink or red buds in mid to late spring and often occurs heavily every other year (biennial). It produces tiny, bright red fruits in the fall that persist into winter. While edible and high in pectin for jellies, they are primarily a food source for birds and wildlife. The dark green, ovate, and often three lobed leaves turn golden yellow or orange in the fall. Performs best in full sun for optimal flowering and fruiting but will tolerate part shade.
