Winter Cheeks Apple
Description
The Winter Cheeks Apple is a hardy, hybrid variety known for its crisp texture and reliable performance in cold climates. Developed in Manitoba, it is often recommended for gardeners seeking an eating apple with qualities similar to commercial varieties. In mid spring, the tree produces showy, lightly scented white flowers with shell pink overtones that emerge from red flower buds. This produces a medium sized, round apple with frosty red skin over a pale yellow green base, reminiscent of "red flushed cheeks" in winter This fruit is exceptionally sweet and crisp with white flesh. Common uses include fresh eating, baking, and cooking but stores well for a few months under proper refrigeration. Requires another compatable apple or crabapple tree variety nearby to produce fruit. For highest yield and best bloom, plant in full sun.
